At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Sky Country, we offer mentoring opportunities designed to meet youth where they are. Whether through our one-to-one Community-Based, School-Based, or group mentoring programs, every mentoring relationship is built on connection, encouragement, and the belief that one caring adult—or student mentor—can help a young person discover their full potential.
Community-Based Mentoring Programs
Our Community-Based Mentoring programs connect caring adult volunteers ("Bigs") with children ("Littles") to build meaningful, one-to-one friendships that help youth grow in confidence, explore new opportunities, and reach their goals.
Bigs (ages 18+) are thoughtfully matched with Littles (ages 5–18) based on shared interests, personalities, and preferences. Together, matches spend 4–6 hours each month enjoying activities they both enjoy—from grabbing ice cream and exploring local parks to attending community events or trying something new together.
Whether you're volunteering as an individual, a couple, or a family, there's a place for you in our program.
Who Can Participate?
Our Community-Based Mentoring program is currently available in Gallatin, Park, and Yellowstone counties.
Children ages 5–18 who would benefit from having an additional supportive adult in their lives are welcome to enroll. Participation is free for all families, and there are no income or family structure requirements to join.
Ongoing Support & Match Activities
Every mentoring relationship is supported by our experienced staff through regular check-ins, resources, and guidance. Bigs and Littles are also invited to participate in free match activities throughout the year, including outdoor adventures, creative workshops, community events, and more. We also offer volunteer meetups and ongoing training opportunities to help every match thrive.

School-Based Mentoring Programs
Our School-Based Mentoring program connects high school students ("Bigs") with elementary-aged students ("Littles") to build positive friendships that encourage confidence, connection, and personal growth.
Matches meet once each week during the school year at their school, where they spend time together participating in fun, organized activities led and supervised by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. From games and creative projects to team-building activities, every meeting is designed to help relationships grow in a safe and supportive environment.
Who Can Participate?
High school students who want to make a difference in a younger student's life are encouraged to become Bigs. Elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade who would benefit from having an additional positive role model are welcome to enroll as Littles.

New Bigs and Littles are welcomed throughout the school year, and participation is free for all students and families.

Group Mentoring Programs
Our Group Mentoring program - The Group Chat - connects adult volunteers ("Bigs") with middle school-aged students ("Littles") in Park County to build positive friendships that encourage confidence, connection, and personal growth.
Matches meet once each week at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Livingston (111 S 2nd Street) where they spend time together participating in fun, organized activities led and supervised by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. From games and creative projects to team-building activities, and meaningful conversations, every meeting is designed to help relationships grow in a safe and supportive environment.
Who Can Participate?
Adults (18+) in Park County who want to make a difference in a younger student's life are encouraged to become Bigs. Middle School students in Park County who are interested in this opportunity are invited to enroll as Littles.
New Bigs and Littles are welcomed throughout the school year, and participation is free for all students and families.
